Turtle neck

The humble turtleneck is a huge trend this winter season and one that can be incorporated by both men and women into their wardrobe. Polo necks, skivvys, roll necks, turtlenecks as well as funnel necks and mock necks are all in the same neckline family.  They’re most commonly used for jumpers and sweaters but this neckline is also used for dresses, jackets and short sleeve tops too.

Not only is the turtleneck a practical piece in keeping you warm in the cooler months, it’s great for layering too.  You can layer thin knits and silk blouses under dresses and jackets and layer thicker turtlenecks under winter coats.

The turtleneck as been around for years and was recently shown on the runway at the Chanel, Jacquemus and Victoria Beckham shows as well as Dior and Hermes menswear shows.

Donny Galella showed us a great way of wearing a turtleneck for a chic casual look at Fashion Week.

Here I am wearing a St Cloud funnel neck jumper from Amazon which is available online now for $152.

Here I am wearing a Macgraw funnel neck top over a slip dress which is a great look in winter if you have something a little more dressy to go to because you can layer it under a jacket or fur.

If you're loving the look then here are some great turtleneck options from luxe to less styled different ways.

Zimmermann Zippy roll neck blouse - was $550 now $415

Scanlan Theodore Turtleneck sweater - $350

Saba wool roll neck sweater - $199

For the men, I like a simple black turtleneck from Zara that won't break the bank.

Zara sweater with a roll neck $59.95
