The Camilla show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia was a breathtakingly beautiful show! Camilla was chosen to close out Fashion Week and let’s just say IMG certainly saved the best till last for their closing show.
The Camilla show was by far the best show of the week and one of the best I have ever seen. On arrival into the Carriage Works Theatre III you were immediately transported to Japan. The money tree out the front with lucky red envelopes, the huge cherry blossom tree in the middle of the runway with pink flower petals covering the huge runway, the incense burning and the traditional tea ceremony on the floor with people handing out green tea was a sensory overload. Everyone wanted to take it all in (and take a few pics for instgram) before they took their seats so they could remember the moment.
I was also blown away by the walls that were covered in Camilla’s beautiful silk prints. The walls must have been at least 10 metres high and the fabric was floor to ceiling so there was absolutely no mistaking what show you were at.
Then the show started and if Tokyo stole Camilla’s heart then Camilla certainly stole my heart. The show was incredible! Camilla is renowned for her caftans however this show was a lot more than caftans as models wore, pants, jackets, tops, silk shirts, dresses, furs, embellished leather jackets and coats. Each look was so exciting and the collection was filled with very wearable pieces. The show opened with Emma Balfour and also had Sarah Jane Adams grey hair proving that it’s a collection for all ages and also paving the way for diversity on the runway. During the show the loud Japanese drummers and a dancer in a beautiful Kimono added to the excitement of the show.
The show closed with Camilla walking out with lot’s of little kids in Camilla and the whole room was on their feet. A standing ovation for an unbelievable woman and an unbelievable show.
